2014.06.16 ADSL congestion in BC/AB

Intermittent Internet congestion affecting ADSL clients across all ADSL providers known in BC / AB continue. The underlying cause is reported to be a router in the Telus core network which is anticipated to be upgraded on June 22, 2014.

Recently we have noted increased congestion and packet loss. Many providers use multiple fiber providers to connect their services. As congestion increases, re-routing and other traffic management techniques may be seen which could affect transit times (ping times) which could affect the reliabilty or speed or file transfers, voice, video and other forms of communication.

This issue MAY be related to the specific issue noted today, but we do not have enough infomation yet (2014.06.16 Internet event in Vancouver).

Please check for updates as we will post further details as they are made available to us.

Thank you,
