2016.11.24 DSL PPPOE Authentication issue

From approximately 8pm to 10pm a small number of DSL pppoe sessions failed to re-authenticate. This caused the connections to go down. Sessions that did NOT attempt to re-authenticate during the issue were unaffected. We determined the issue was relatively wide spread within minutes of the first reports, and immediately escallated the issue. A core authentication router was not automatically clearing old sessions which resulted in an out of resource condition preventing further authentications. Further investigation will be done to determine if a router firmware upgrade is required. Thank you to our clients for their reports :-)
