2014.06.16 Internet event in Vancouver

At approximately 15:28:45 PT we noticed packet loss across multiple providers (including ADSL and Cable and fiber). The packet loss spready across the providers we monitor but was not coincident (the outtages and loss did not have similar times). As packet loss increased we observed route changes to remote locations - this would have affected voice traffic.

As the issue progressed we opened trouble tickets with all parties and although the issue seems to be resolved at the moment we are pushing for a result which includes a reason for the failures.

We are aware of a specific planned upgrade to deal with capacity issues but are not aware if this issue was related directly to this event.

For information please see 2014.06.16 ADSL congestion in BC/AB

We will post an update when we complete our investigation and obtain RFO's (Reason For Outtage reports) from the carriers.

Thank you for your trouble reports - we will reply to trouble tickets with a link to this article.
