ADSL / CABLE
Enhanced security services and connection monitoring can provide increased peace of mind. This service integrates very well with other Bitblock support and hosting services to maximize your savings and security.
ADSL is a digital network connection served over an existing phone line. The signal can be transmitted continuously - even while the line is in use for always-on Internet availability. Bitblock ADSL offers managed service enhancements, and a billing model designed to reduce costs for commercial users.
Key Features:
- True static IP addressing
- Fewer routers / hops / points of failure
- Separate On-Net vs. Off-Net billing
- Cost savings for high volume users
- Enhanced cost savings for high volume WAN users
- Connection Monitoring (optional - specific hardware requirements)

True Static IP Addressing
Many Internet service providers use DHCP for all their IP address assignments. These pseudo-static addresses can cause problems when a variety of conditions prevent proper renewal of the address. These failures can cause service interruptions. By using true static addressing, and careful management of the address pool, we avoid all the complication and problems commonly associated with DHCP addressing.
Fewer routers / hops / points of failure
Using high availability routing systems, and minimizing the number of routers in the system, we can provide lower latency between any two client sites, and can isolate their traffic from being carried over the public Internet network. This results in better performance, fewer service interruptions and enhanced data security.
Separate On-Net vs. Off-Net billing
Bitblock pioneered a new billing model to make high volume WAN and VPN usage affordable. Connections between two different client sites where both clients use our service for the connection are called "On-Net." Connections between two different client sites where one or both clients use another ISP, or where one client connects to a 3rd party are called "Off-Net." With special optimizations and functionality in our routing infrastructure, we are able to separate the two classes of traffic. On-Net traffic costs less. There is no 3rd party network to be paid for the transport of data, and these savings are passed on to the customer. Many ISP's bill all traffic as Off-Net traffic - they make no distinction. This distinction can save companies with multiple offices a significant amount of money.
Consider the following example:
Company A transfers 2GB / day of data between two of it's satellite offices. 2GB / day * 30 days = 60GB / month. Traditionally, as all this traffic is billed using Off-Net methods, Company A pays for it at each location! Using an average rate of $10/GB, this traffic could cost $1200 / month!
Using our On-Net billing model (automatically applied if both locations are Bitblock ADSL subscribers regardless of whether or not they are the same corporate entity) this cost would be reduced by over 50% (current On-Net billing rate is $4 / GB) for a total of $480 - a savings of $520 per month!
Cost Savings for High Volume Users
Many ISP's force you to upgrade to higher service tiers when you exceed their "included" service levels. Some Cable companies have been known to discontinue service for high-volume users. This means greater cost for greater use and the potential of interruption during a service change. Our services and all "add-ons" gain discounts with volume. These volume discounts are aggregated over the entire billing account and can result in significant savings.
Enhanced Cost Savings for High Volume WAN Users
Extending and applying the volume discount model to On-Net WAN traffic means that customers transferring large volumes of data On-Net can save even more.
Connection Monitoring
Actively monitoring network status allows us to proactively respond to network problems - often before the client is aware of a problem occurring. Maintaining your uptime and quality of service is the number one objective of Bitblock's ADSL service.
Single Point Of Contact
Many of our clients have reported difficulty obtaining support and service from their previous service providers. They often experience long wait times and difficulty contacting an actual technician. These communication issues extend the impact of service interruptions. With our service there is no hand off process. The technician responding to your call is not a call-center agent with a support script in front of them, but a real experienced network support person. With direct knowledge of your installation, they are better equipped and can respond much more quickly to your service issue from start to finish.
