How To Set Up Exchange In Outlook 2010 (Manual)

This guide will show you how to manually set up an Exchange account in Microsoft Outlook 2010. These directions will be the same for Outlook 2013.

If this is your first time running Outlook, the Account Setup Wizard will appear automatically.

1. When the account wizard appears, it will ask for what type of account you would like to add. Select "E-mail Account" then click Next:

2. Select "Manually configure server settings or additional server types", then click Next:

3. Select "Microsoft Exchange or compatible service", the select Next:

4. On the Server Settings page, set the Server to "es3.hs.planbcorp.net" and make sure "Use Cached Exchange Mode" is enabled (otherwise you will have to download every single email from your account every time Outlook is run). You will enter your User Name as COMPANY-NAME where COMPANY is the abbreviated code for you company and Name is the first part of your email (before the @). Do NOT click on "Check Name" yet. Click on "More Settings":

5. In the new window that appears select the "Connection" tab. Under "Outlook Anywhere" make sure "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" is checked. Select "Exchange Proxy Settings":

6. Under "Connection Settings", enter "owa.planbcorp.net" beside the https://. Make sure "Only connect to proxy severs that have this principal name in their certificate" is checked and enter "msstd:owa.planbcorp.net" in the field below that. Have both "On fast networks..." and "On slow networks..." checked. Make sure you have "Basic Authentication" selected from the drop down list under "Proxy authentication settigns". Click OK:

7. Back on the "Server Settings" window. If you select "Check Name" now what is entered in both the Server and User Name fields should become underlined. Select Next:

8. A login prompt will appear. Select "Use Another Account", and enter your email credentials in the HS\XXX-XXXX format.

9. The account wizard will now authenticate the account. Once this is compete, click "Finish".

You can now close the other windows that may still be open and launch Outlook. If the email account was added to the Profile that is used when Outlook is launched, the mailbox for the account will appear on the left-side panel below any other mailboxes that may have been added to that Profile.

10. When you run Outlook you will have a security popup appear asking you to allow "https://owa.planbcorp.net/..." to configure server settings. Check "Don't ask me about this website again" if you do not want this to appear again. Click "Allow".
