2012.10.13 POP3 password theft / possible virus or malware

Within the last week we have seen a few occurrences of users' POP3 accounts being used to send Spam.

Resetting the password blocks the offending computers (most of which have so far been in Eastern Europe).

If your POP3 password requires a reset we can NOT notify you by email because that same email may be compromised by the people who have stolen your password.

This issue is likely the result of a virus or malware on the PC which you usually use to read that email account. Please scan your PC for viruses and malware using programs such as Eset's NOD32 and MalwareBytes.

We can assist with installing these or other antivirus programs through remote support for a nominal fee.

Please contact support if you are unable to access your POP3 account as it may have been disabled to prevent abuse.

One symptom of this issue can be that you may receive a large number of delivery failure messages (resulting from the person abusing your account sending bulk mail to people who rejected the mail).

Please contact support if you have any concerns. Thank you.
