SmartScreen is a filter that is built into your Windows 8 PC. It is intended to do background checks on files that are downloaded from the Internet, and to prevent you from accidentally downloading harmful files onto your computer. SmartScreen is helpful in many ways, but it also has a tendency to deny you when you try to download content that you know is safe, but it doesn't recognize. You need to disable SmartScreen when you download logmein from our site. It is possible that other helpful applications will be blocked by SmartScreen as well. If you need to disable SmartScreen go here. After you've disabled SmartScreen and downloaded whatever content you needed to download, it is highly recommended that you enable it again.

These are the steps to enabling SmartScreen on your windows 8 computer:

1. Go to Metro by pushing the "Windows" button on your keyboard:

Now that you are in the Metro screen your applications are laid out in boxes similarly to the above picture. To search for a specific application in Metro, simply start typing the name of it.

2. Once you start typing, your search will show up in a search bar in the top right corner of the screen. Type "SmartScreen." 

Click on "Settings."

3. Under "Settings" you will see "SmartScreen," click on "SmartScreen."

A window new window will show up.

4. This new window has many options relating to SmartScreen, to enable it, click on "Change Windows SmartScreen Settings."

5.Check "Get Administrator approval before running an unrecognized app from the internet (recommended)"
