Terminal Services Client - Creating a shortcut to the client program

This document is intended for people who either need to create an initial shortcut to the Terminal Server Client or want to create an additional shortcut to the Terminal Server Client.

Start by opening Windows Explorer by clicking on My Computer in the Windows Start Menu:

You can also use the Windows Key + E shortcut

 

In the Search Computer box, enter "mstsc " and press Enter.

Alternatively you can use the Windows Key + F shortcut to bring up a standalone search window.

There may be multiple Applications titled “mstsc”. You need to use the one in the System32 folder in C:\Windows.

 

When the search is complete, right-click on the mstsc file, and while still holding the right mouse button down, drag the file to either an empty area on the desktop:

or to the Quick Launch area to the right of the Start button:

When you release the right mouse button, a shortcut will be created on the Quick Bar.

Repeat to the any other location you desire. Once this is complete, continue on to Terminal Services Client - Configuration.
