How to set up a POP3 account in Outlook 2007, Vista
These are the instructions for setting up a POP3 account in Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista. The setup would be identical if Outlook 2007 was installed on XP the only diffrence would be the appearance of some of the buttons and windows.
1. If you have existing accounts setup in Outlook and want to add a POP3 account, click on Tools then select Account Settings.
2. In the window presented in the top left hand corner, click New.
If this is the first account you have setup in your new outlook then use the account setup wizard to get started
1. Click Next
2. In the window presented select Yes
Both of these methods will bring you to this screen
3. Fill in your personal information, full name, email address and password.
4. Check the checkbox beside Manually configure server settings or additional server types. This action will grey out the fields where you have just entered information. Click Next.
5. Select the Internet E-mail radio button and click Next.
6. Enter the incoming and outgoing server information in the fields that are highlighted below and enter your username (email address) and password again. You can choose to check the checkbox for the remember password option; however, if anyone else uses the same user profile or if the profile is shared, then anyone else may access your email. NOTE - If you do not have the incoming and outgoing server information you may need to contact your ISP, or whoever hosts your POP3 account for the correct server information.
7. In the window presented, choose the Outgoing Server tab and check the checkbox next to "My outgoing server (SMTP)," this requires authentication. Leave the radio button next to Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
