Checking The Size Of an Outlook Data File

Introduction:

It's important to note that your entire outlook data cannot exceed 2GB. Although this is the allowable maximum, you can achieve significantly better performance and experience fewer errors if you keep your data file less than 1GB. You can also avoid the risk of having your entire data file corrupted. Remember, the larger the file is, the poorer the performance.

Steps:

  1. Open up outlook and draw your attention to the sidebar on the left side.

  3. In the dialog box that appears, select the button labelled folder size. This will enable you to see where most of your email is stored and what folders take up the most space.

  4. With this information, take some time to reorganize and purge old email to free up space and, consequently, increase performance.
