BusRoamReadyUS txt confirmation confusion
The Telus documentation we received for our cellular services is very clear - but their confirmation text when we activate phones with the option is not. The original plan details are posted below.

We have confirmed with Telus that while the text is confusing that the plan is not and does work as described.
Considerations for this plan:
Data while roaming can be turned off in the phone settings. Even the tiniest amount of data without this plan would exceed the first tier of this plan - so the plan makes sense - but by disabling data roaming unless you need it ensures you will not be billed the $30 / 500MB tiers.
There are two possible reasons to be careful with voice calls on this plan. Without the plan you could make or receive up to 13 minutes of phone calls before exceeding the $20 plan cost. If you feel it is likely you will never use more than 13 minutes of phone calls but likely make only a few calls you may want to opt out - but keep in mind roaming calls without a plan are billed at $1.50 / minute.
The other reason for caution is related to our billing cycle which ends on the 7th of each month. If your trip to the US spans the billing window you may be charged for the voice or data roaming options in each billing month.
While less than ideal, the savings significantly outweigh the costs and risks to most users in most cases.

- (e.g. $30 for up to 500MB, $60 for up to 1GB, $90 for up to 1.5GB and so on)

- Voice rates - $1.50/minute
