How do I reboot / restart my phone?

If you have had Internet or network issues, you may be requested to reboot your phone.

While a soft reboot is more convenient, a hard reboot is often more effective. If you are having issues running or operating your device, or if the system is frozen or unresponsive, a hard reboot is recommended or sometimes necessary.

Performing a soft reboot / restart:

The procedure depends on the model of the phone.

For Cisco / Linksys SPA-941 / SPA-942 / SPA-962 and SPA-504G:

  1. Press the Settings button.

  2. Scroll down to Reboot and press Select, or dial 12 (Press 1 then 2).

  3. Press the OK button.

For a Cisco SPA-525G:

  1. Press the Settings button.

  2. Scroll down to Device Administration and press Select, or dial 5.

  3. Press the OK button.

When your phone reboots, your PC may lose connection to the network if it is connected to the PC port on the back of the phone. This connection will be restored in a few seconds when the phone has rebooted.

Performing a hard reboot / restart / power cycle:

In all cases, the phone can be rebooted by removing power from it for 10 seconds, and then reconnecting.

If the phone receives power over the power connection (does not look like a network cable), simply unplug this connection, count to 10 then reconnect.

If the phone does not have a power connection, it may be powered by POE (power delivered over the network cable). In this case,  disconnect the WAN cable from the phone, count to 10 then reconnect.
