How To Setup A POP3 Account in Mac Mail

Mac Mail is an Email client that comes with Mac and can be used to access several different Email protocols. This guide will show you how to set up a POP3 email account in Mac Mail.

  1. Navigate to Add Account in the File menu. Enter your email address and your email password; click Continue.

  2. You will get a message telling you that Mac Mail failed to log in to the server. Change the User Name so that it is the FULL EMAIL ADDRESS; click Continue.

  3. For the Incoming Mail Server settings, select POP for the Account Type. Add a description if you wish. Set the Incoming Mail Server as PIM.YOURDOMAIN. The User Name will be the full Email address. Enter the account password, then press Continue.

  4. Make sure “User Secure Sockets Layer” is checked and the password is set to Password.

  5. Change the Outgoing Mail Server to PIM.YOURDOMAIN and check Use Only This Server. Make sure Use Authentication checked and enter the User Name and password for the email account.

  6. A summary of the settings will be displayed. If they are correct, click Create, otherwise click Go Back to change any of the settings.

Your mailbox will now appear in the left hand panel in the main window
